Nice update to the Bayou theme:

Included in this version is the option to define how many microposts and longform posts are shown on the homepage, change the categories for microposts and longform posts, set the site language (en, de, es, fi, fr, it, pt, ru), and change the date format.

– I’ve really enjoyed experimenting with @mtt’s new Bayou theme. It has removed one of the biggest obstacles I face with combining my Wordpress and Micro.blog sites.

However, I need some technical assistance. I’m no longer able to publish posts or make any changes to the site design. I’ve removed any custom themes, deleted all unessential plugins, rebuilt the site, switched between Hugo versions, but nothing has solved my issue. I can reply to existing posts, but everything else is frozen.

Can you have a peek?

@robertbreen Can you check if you’re seeing any errors in Account > Logs > Errors?

Robert Breen

@Mtt -Yes, I’m getting this error: “Feed: Unknown exception ArgumentError”

Matt Langford

@robertbreen I believe I saw someone with that error before and it was related to their “Sources and Cross Posting” settings (found on Account page). However, don’t quote me on that. I’m sure will be able to see more specifics when he’s available.

Robert Breen

Good memory, @Mtt!

@Manton: under “Sources and Cross Posting Settings” it shows “unknown error ArgumentError” below the /feed.json section. Refreshing doesn’t do anything. Should I click on the delete button to rebuild, or will that cause other problems? I imported posts from my Wordpress site to test the Bayou theme, so it’s quite possible one or more of those posts didn’t come over correctly.

Thanks all!

@robertbreen @Mtt Sorry, I think this is a new bug I introduced when changing domain names. It was causing the feed URL to be wrong on your account… I’ve fixed it, let me know if the error goes away!

Robert Breen

@mtt That fixed the error message and allowed me to publish a post, but the post is not showing up on the web site. Maybe I have two different problems? You should see a Kevin Kelly quote but it’s stuck on a post from a couple of days ago: robertbreen.micro.blog

Matt Langford

@robertbreen It looks like a custom theme error now. Can you disable your custom theme and see if that helps?

Manton Reece

@robertbreen @Mtt This is kind of odd because the permalink for that post is there: robertbreen.micro.blog/2025/02/2… (Still looking into why it’s not on the home page…)

Robert Breen

@Mtt No custom theme running. I removed that as part of my earlier troubleshooting. I just changed Hugo from 0.117 per Bayou instructions to 0.91 to see if that would help, but no change. Thanks for digging into this for me!

Matt Langford

@robertbreen Wait! I misunderstood the problem. Your post is there, but Bayou requires certain categories to be applied. That post does not have the right categories.

Robert Breen

@Mtt @Manton That did it! You are brilliant! I had deleted the auto category filters as troubleshooting. I will turn those back on…. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
