The more I tinker with Nostr, the more I understand the appeal for developers. It is fun. But there are so many usability challenges. User search and discovery are difficult.

hey manton. the latest (App store) build of the app is unusable for me. All timelines say “You are not signed in”. Also posting gives me an error “something went wrong”. LMK if there is anything specific to try.
- fresh install
- ios
- log out and back in
- using my own domain brandontreb.com
- loads part of my profile (name, pic, and description)

@andyn it was nauseating so I had to stop following it for awhile. Maybe I’ll revisit it later.

@brandontreb Sorry, I’m surprised signing out doesn’t fix that. Did the new version ever work?

The recent issues with spam and DDoS on some of the larger Mastodon instances has me wondering how Nostr will ever be able to deal with this. If I’m understanding it right, you can only see events from someone you share a relay with. Imagine as things scale there will naturally be super popular relays and they will become targets for abuse.

@dfj I wonder about that too. You can have paid relays but you’d still need other ways to control spam. It feels a little out of control sometimes.

it did (sort of). i was using the testflight build and posting to my site hasn’t worked yet for me in the 3.x version, but it did show my timelines in previous iterations.
Here is what I’m currently seeing (just tried to sign out/in again)

I also tested the older Testflight builds (289), and it’s showing the same thing. So maybe something quirky on the server side?

@brandontreb I had that message too once. Couldn’t get in. But I don’t remember what fixed it, I’m afraid.

@brandontreb Do you mind trying one more thing? Sign out of the iOS app. Then on the web go to Account → App tokens, copy the first one and paste it into the email field in the iOS app.

that worked! (For loading feeds) it still says Something went wrong when posting.

@brandontreb Progress! Thanks for your patience. I’m releasing another TestFlight build today with posting fixes, although I don’t think it will fix what you’re seeing yet.
