Folks, Nostr is really easy to understand. Your username is 64 random letters and you just enable NIP-5, NIP-39, and put your private key in a hardware wallet. Simple! Mainstream adoption for non-technical users will not be a problem. 🙄

Pratik

But hey, it's an open protocol, right? 😉

Gabz

easy, I mean, I understood half of what you've just described lol

Andreas

that description was not for dummies though 😅 (not a techie). BUT I managed to register a Nostr account a couple of weeks ago.

@manton Every generation needs to reinvent Compuserve or ICQ, but make them worse.

Ben Southwood.

I joined, had a cursory look, then backed out as quickly as possible.

Ben Werdmuller

At least everyone there is talking about Bitcoin!

Manton Reece

@benwerd I could see it settling into mostly Bitcoin enthusiasts and also maybe secure messaging.

Caleb

@manton Yikes. I’m fairly sure this is a slight exaggeration … but probably not. 😬

Manton Reece

@geekosupremo Just a little. 🙂

Jean MacDonald

Wow, an eyeroll from you! I almost never see that.

Helge Gudmundsen

@pratik must be the open-closed principle.

Aaron Williams

@BenSouthwood same exact thing I did when it first launched. Crypto bros are not my crowd.

Ben Southwood.

@mindofaaronw Yeah, it really wasn’t my thing at all.

Manton Reece

@jean I was torn between 🙄 and 🤪. Trying to expand my emoji game.

Jean MacDonald

I don't believe I've ever seen either expression on your face IRL.

Writing Slowly

@njpozner Yes , reinventing Compuserve badly is an iron law of Internet physics 😆
