Federico Viticci got me with the Don Draper quote for his Vision Pro story. One of my favorite scenes in television, and a quote I used in my book too. Federico goes on:
I’m convinced that Vision Pro and the visionOS platform are a watershed moment in the arc of personal computing. After trying it, I came away reflecting that we’ll eventually think of software before spatial computing, and after it.
I still think it will be decades before this technology is usable and affordable in more AR-style glasses. But it is exciting to read everyone’s hands-on experience of the future.
Colin Devroe @manton I'm fairly certain I'll be buying Vision Pro. At first I thought I’d hold out until the second or third version but I've wanted _exactly_ what Apple has made for at least 10 years (as I've written on my blog so many times). I sort of have to buy one.
Manton Reece @cdevroe Enjoy! I’m also starting to wonder if the Quest 3 will see more interest because of Vision Pro. “This looks great but I only have $500, not $3500…” 💰
Colin Devroe @manton I have no doubt it will. I've used several iterations of Meta's products and some of the games are very fun. But I found doing anything like web browsing in them painful. If Vision Pro can be good for productivity I'm all in. Apple's headsets will likely stay above $499 forever but I’d bet we'll see a $999-1499 version by end of 2025.
