Meta’s Threads will obviously have ads later. Until now it hasn’t been clear what business model Bluesky is going for and whether it aligns with most users’ interests. Great to see their first paid service is domain name registration.

Mike Stanley ☁️ :vmstio: @manton Cloudflare will register .me domains for $12.85. First year via Bluesky is $13.98, which might be an acceptable markup, but year 2+ at $25.98 is ridiculous. Similar markup on year 2+ for .social domains and the rest.
Manton Reece @mikestanley I think it’s fine for them to have whatever markup they want because of the convenience, as long as you can transfer the domain out. People can always shop around if they want a better deal.
