For folks who have been using Micro.blog bookmarks… First of all, thanks! I’m curious: do we need a workflow for tracking “unread” or “read” articles? I’ve been wondering if we could do something clever so you could “tag” an article as read, maybe with an emoji or special tag.

I'm all for keeping it tag based with special behaviors for certain tags like "toread", "starred", "archive", or whatever.

@letters It would be nice to have a browser extension. The bookmarklet works but is obviously limited in what it can do.

@Mtt Cool. I think tag-based makes a lot of sense, so it might be just some UI icing on the cake like one-click "I read this" to apply special tags.

@mph Good point about "to blog". That is the kind of workflow that Micro.blog would be good at.

special tags sounds like a great solution.
May I request an additional one? Pinboard has the ability to mark bookmarks as “private”. Private meaning that the bookmarks won’t be displayed on your public profile.
Would it be possible for a similar feature to make it into micro.blog? For example, I would like to add a page with all my bookmarks. But I want to be able to hide some of them from my public listing.

discovered in latest macOS app; selecting “All Tags” in bookmarks list kicks me over to Micro.blog website rather than unfiltering tags and keeping me in the app. By design?

@jimmitchell Yes, this is by design to show all the tag names (not filter the bookmarks), because there's not currently a screen in the Mac version to do that. There should be, though... I plan to move it into the app in a future version.

That would be helpful. Also, any chance that you can tag the bookmark via API? :)

@rom Just updated the bookmarks API help page to document an API call for setting tags on a bookmark that has already been saved. Still need to update the Micropub API to also support this.

when I post a new bookmark - Shortcut's Get Content of URL does not return anything (Show Contents of URL shows blank), unlike when posting a usual blog post.

@rom Thanks, I’ll look into that. For now you could request the recent bookmarks as JSON after posting to get more data.

I'm guessing maybe you saw my earlier comment about this, but count me as a +1 for some kind of read / unread solution. Very open to emojis and special tags!

Many voiced their take. Mine falls in the majority for using special tags (toread / toprocess, archived, etc.)
