@manton not too far from Flagstaff — a bit of forest respite in a sea of AZ desert. really nice in a month or so when they get their first snow. also say hi to my son Gareth who lives there.
and Sedona which is just a really kind of amazing place — it’s thoroughly gentrified now 🫤 — but like yosemite, even busloads of tourists can’t spoil something so amazing.

@isaiah I camped last night not far from Sedona. Coconino National Forest. Beautiful, had no idea this was here.

@manton it still blows my mind that everywhere around is miles of desert and then there’s this high altitude pine forest that seems like it has no business being there.

one year when returning from CA there was a huge snowstorm. we stopped in flagstaff to wait it out and woke up to a foot of snow.

we played in the snow all day before heading home. and i think we all fell in love with the area. it was just a few years later that Gareth picked NAU as his university.
