Don’t want to jinx it but we finally have Micro.blog performance under control after a couple rough days. Also gotta give credit to Threads, it is one of the fastest of the new social networks. The bar is higher than it was in Twitter’s fail whale days.

I am hoping for a way to block instances at the local/account level as there is with Mastodon. Is that something we have on micro.blog? I do not want to allow my content to be accessed by Threads users or their servers.

@anniegreens That is coming. We’ve been slow to add it because Threads users can’t actually follow anyone outside of Threads yet. You can already mute all of “threads.net”, but not full blocking yet. Going to try to finish that in the next few days.

gotcha, I hope I didn’t just ruin the new surprise you are rolling out (if that was it?) and thanks for the info on all the performance improvements!

@anniegreens my gut feeling is that the “other” project is not related to fediverse… I might be wrong as I don’t have any insider info about this. cc

@numericcitizen @anniegreens Your gut feeling is right. Nothing to do with the fediverse at all. Fediverse work continues, though! 2024 is going to be interesting.

I hope we’ll get private messaging, but I guess I will have to wait and see.

@anniegreens maybe it’s about having a page created for each generated newsletter? Could be cool.

@renevanbelzen Nothing new yet for private messaging, but we have been thinking about it. We have messaging for Mastodon replies but I don’t think it’s a very good long-term solution, so I think we need something new. Kind of waiting to see what shakes out in other platforms.

I don’t participate much in conversations here but just wanted to say I’m really grateful there’s a place where I can easily continue “blogging” after the decimation of Twitter this past year. Thanks for all your hard work.

@numericcitizen @anniegreens Nope, but thanks for the reminder about that. We do need to finish that.

Maybe its a media extension for the bookshelf so we can add things like games, movies, tv shows, podcasts, etc??? (If not, please consider, that would be dope!)

@starrwulfe We are still considering that. A few more things to finish with books first.

@numericcitizen I was mostly teasing, but I am very curious about it

@anniegreens well, the idea here would be to keep an online copy of a newsletter accessible with a unique URL. Header and footer could be configured to be appended for a unique look. Newsletters could be inserted into an index page that in turn you could display on your blog. Something along those lines. cc

I didn’t know that you could mute entire networks in Micro.Blog. So now I just set up both mute and block for “threads.net”. Absolutely no interest in it.
