Tired of running out of disk space, finally decided to move Xcode and the DerivedData folder to a little external SSD. Might’ve bought myself another year with this older MacBook Pro.
I am ashamed when professionals like you extend the life of your devices while weak people like me lust after every update.
If I get a new computer, what will happen to all my stickers? Seriously though, I just dislike the hassle of replacing computers.
What kind of drive do you have? I tried to do just that with this Kingston USB-C one: www.kingston.com/en/ssd/xs200..., because I stupidly got a 256GB MBP, but it looks like it handles single big files very well, but millions of small files really badly and an unpacked Xcode was killing it…

@manton ..so slow though.. it’s the stuff you really want to have on your fastest drive..

@manton Ha, have 8TB M3 Max MBP, only 3TB left. Any amount seems like enough until it’s not. But carrying around an external SSD not good for a portable computer 🙁
