Great news for PWAs: Apple is not disabling them in the EU after all. It seemed like an unnecessary reaction to the DMA, so I’m very glad to see this. Wonder if there was pushback from web folks inside Apple too.

@manton I could see it going both ways. By keeping PWAs on WebKit, Apple is now "favoring" Safari. It's kind of "damned if they do, damned if they don't".
But I think it's the better of the two options.

That is good news! I just started using PWAs on my iPhone a couple of weeks ago—Phanpy for Mastodon and Lillihub for micro.blog. I am quite enjoying them and looking for other PWAs to take advantage of.

It’s good news although all that talk on Mastodon about how Apple was going to destroy the open web was a lot of nonsense.

I wonder if this was a 4d chess move from Apple to keep Blink and Gecko PWAs off of the iPhone. 😛 Instead of the story being "Apple has to allow other engines, but keeps them out of PWAs", it's "Apple allows PWAs! 🙌🏻"
