Finished reading: The Book That Wouldn’t Burn by Mark Lawrence. Still not completely sure what this was. Feels unique. Had my doubts midway but now I need to read the next one. 📚

@manton Lawrence is one of my favorite authors but his recent books haven’t been that good.

Red Sister and Prince of Thorns are unforgettable and compulsive reads. Start with former if you don’t like things going too dark.

@frankreiff This is the first book of his that I’ve read. I almost gave up on it a couple times but I think he pulled it all together at the end really well.

@manton It’s a weak book for him and reworks the same girl-heroine-at-school routine as both Red Sister and The Girl and the Stars.

He has a very ill child and spends most of his life in hospital with her.. so his output isn’t as original as it used to be.

The Red Sister series is probably his best. Impossible Times is good. Prince of Thorns is VERY dark.

The Girl and the Stars, and The Prince of Fools are both reworkings of the same idea, but with much less interesting characters..
