I got into web development in the mid 1990s when I was about 20 years old. I feel very lucky to have fallen into a career that I can continue to be passionate about almost 30 years later. AI will be the same for some young people today. It’s a rare opportunity.

I wish that when I’d gotten into it (1995ish, I was in high school), I’d realized it would be a career option. It’s always been a hobby for me and I think my quality of life might have been different (less student debt for one thing!) if I’d realized it could be a career.

@manton I still have mixed feelings about AI. I mean, I do definitely recognise that it can have many benefits in many fields. I do use AI tools myself. Though, I do still often feel that the 'heart' is missing when AI is being used and discussed. I see AI more as a 'tool' than a "philosophy". A tool among many other tools. We should always be able to feel the people behind the project (business/product), the human tough if you will. The AI tools should only help improve the results.
