We recorded a new Core Int just a couple hours before Apple issued their apology about the Crush ad. Still had fun talking about new iPads, then a discussion of Mastodon as a non-profit and more.

@manton I listened to the first few minutes going “read the FAQ” and then Daniel apparently did 😆 the US entity is largely about being able to accept donations as tax deductible for US people/groups and also matching grants from employers.
The gGmbH still runs the show. All of the (3?) actual employees are EU citizens and paid by that company.

I was kinda cringing when I saw the “cut scene” in the presentation but never thought it would be made into an ad… I wince every time I see that and am glad it’s no longer in rotation.

@vmstan Thanks for listening. Yeah, we weren’t quite prepared… I read the news when it broke and then promptly forgot everything about it. 🙂

Enjoyed the show! Had a thought about the iPad portion of the discussion. Obviously you need a Mac for Xcode but when was the last time you tried a 13" iPad with a keyboard and trackpad? Have you tried one in the last year with Stage Manager? If not you may be suprised that it's far more capable than it was a few years ago. iPadOS get's a lot of criticism but I suspect much of that comes from folks not having actually spent much time with it in recent versions.
I'm not at all sure that it's worth the money as you need to have a Mac and the iPad would be a second, extra device. That said it might be worth having as a Mac complement. The M4 would likely be WAY more than you need (unless they announce Xcode for iPad at WWDC!). Might not hurt to have a device for more micro.blog testing.
But the 13" Air in a Magic Keyboard as a writing/reading/email device that you can hold as a tablet is very nice. Many prefer the 11" which is perhaps the better choice for reading/tablet. I prefer the 13" as it's a laptop for me.

@Denny I used to do a lot of writing on the iPad, and I could definitely see doing that again. I think I'll hold out for an updated Mini, though.
