The first update from Ghost about ActivityPub has a screenshot of their early experiment. There’s also a lot about timing:

In 2024, for the first time, it finally feels like we have a critical mass of people and platforms who are interested in rewilding the internet to bring back what we lost, and create something new.

Not sure about “for the first time”, but that’s a minor nitpick, mostly selfish on my part. I’m glad Ghost is doing this and look forward to following their email series.

Greg Morris

hasn’t John essentially refused to take this route in the past?

Manton Reece

@gregmorris Yes, people have wanted open posting APIs for years and Ghost seemed to resist it.

@manton I think "critical mass" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. But I sorta see their point, far more 'mainstream' coverage it feels like (which may drive they're development choices more than anything)

Axbom Memos

Fascinating that they don’t have dates on their blog posts, or am I just not seeing it?

Manton Reece

@axbom I don’t see a date either. Tumblr often leaves off dates too and it bugs me. It’s a blog! Dates are kind of important.
