Now that we’ve got breakdancing, I think the Olympics officially has enough events. I don’t want to say “no” to anyone’s sport, but at some point it feels like there are so many events it will become overwhelming to coordinate for future cities, and viewers. Good thing TV now has infinite channels.
Daniel Jalkut Breakdancing isn’t here to stay - I don’t know the process well but they try out sports sometimes or just bring them in for short term promotional purposes. It’s not on the roster for 2028.

Paul Robert Lloyd 🐢 @manton Don’t worry, break dancing didn’t make the cut for LA 2028. Was reading today that the IOC’s rules have changed such that the limit is now on the overall number of events rather than the number of individual sports – although there’s a limit on that too – giving organising committees more say, and thus greater variance between editions. I think Cricket is to be played at LA 2028, weirdly.

b.loftin2 We watched the mens’ finals today. Love it. Of any event, the absolute joy and fun of it comes through.
