Must-read blog post by Cory Doctorow, connecting enshittification to Apple and the legal agreements that give corporations power:

Apple doesn’t oppose regulation; Apple loves regulation, so long as they’re the ones doing the regulating. They want to be able to shape and define the digital market, backed by the power of the state, but without any input from the state. In modern corporate orthodoxy, the state is an enforcer for corporate will.

Someone should check in with Doctorow to see if he's changed his mind about Bluesky. He said he did not trust the promises about federation a long time ago, but it's been done for a while. It feels like he should be around!

@xanlopez.xyz I don't remember specifically what Cory's concerns were, other than maybe preferring to post to his own blog and domain name? I've always thought that Bluesky's embrace of domain names as usernames is the right path, still lots of potential for bloggers.
