Molly White is doing something on her blog that I don’t think I’ve seen before. When linking some people’s names, she will include tiny links to Wikipedia or social web profiles. Here’s a screenshot with the links highlighted, in this case Wikipedia, Mastodon, and Bluesky:
Nicolas Ward I had a linguistics professor in college who I remember gave a lecture on how these name markers were used on LiveJournal. I wonder if he’s looked at it more recently.

Chris Maytag I think I like it? It’s easily understood and used but takes up little space and is easy to ignore if the reader prefers.
