As AI gets better at helping with coding, I think it’s going to feel similar to the productivity boost going from assembly language to Pascal or C. Or maybe from C to Ruby. Development becomes more about orchestrating lots of modules that AI handles the busywork implementation for.
I honestly think we’re there already! My absolute favorite thing LLM assistants can do while coding is I can highlight a conditional block and tell it “handle the extra cases of X, Y, and Z” and it does it without me having to think about how. That feels like an Assembly → C level jump to me
