Glad to see the return of the Day One podcast. I guess I had subscribed years ago and then they stopped doing the show, but today it popped back up in Overcast. On the new episode, Paul Mayne talks about how things have gone since the Automattic acquisition and what they might do with AI.

@manton Also have this in my queue (along with decades of journal entries in Day One), really curious to hear the plan here. Have come really close to looking for alternatives in the past few weeks, not because of the WP fiasco but because it’s so hard to automate getting text out of the journal with shortcuts. Glad to see this podcast back, @dayoneapp

this prompted me to reinstall DayOne. It still had all my posts up to 2018 in there. Now I wonder if I should start using it again and how that might involve Micro.blog. Afaik there is no way from DayOne to Micro.blog apart from manually copying a post, right? My thinking was that all writing goes to DayOne, then things I want to share also go to Micro.blog.

@AlexKucera The only thing we have now right now is in the Mac app, there’s File → Export → Day One. It’s for copying all posts in a blog, though, so not right for all situations.

@Sjwillis Yeah, I’m still happy with Day One, although eventually I will probably move my journaling into Micro.blog now that we have private notes and an API. Our user experience isn’t at Day One quality yet.

I love Day One, but every time they release an update, I always wonder if this will be the update that forces Gutenberg upon us.
