Book and film covers! I’ve updated Micro.blog to show little thumbnails of book covers when you blog about a book using Micro.blog or our companion app Epilogue. I wanted something visually helpful but less in your face than link preview banners. There’s also special support for Letterboxd links.

great!

That’s so cool! I assume they only show in the Timeline? And just as I was switching from Letterboxd to Trakt…

Manton Reece

@jarrod Yeah, just in the timeline for now. Letterboxd is an experiment so we’ll see how it can be expanded, or if we’ll eventually support films natively.

Luis Villa

@manton nice!

Chad Kohalyk

amazing! Thank you

Barry Hess

Very nice!

Jarrod Blundy

Cool cool! I’d love to have native film/TV logging like we do books, but this is pretty sweet too. Thanks!

Mick F

Oh cool. This being said i just added the diary feed that Letterboxd provides to their users to my Micro.blog. It works great. 👌

Loura

Thanks for adding a css class to the cover image :)

Manton Reece

@heyloura 👍 Hopefully it’s easy enough to style or hide in other apps.

Mitch Wagner

I had made a note to request just this very feature. Thanks!

Please do support Trakt; I’d like to be able to do it for TV shows too. And is there any way to have the thumbnail show up on the blog itself, and in crossposts?

Mitch Wagner

Also, thanks for highlighting my post for this.

I had gotten away from using Epilogue for a few months, because I did not care of it as a to-be-read list. But just a few days ago I decided that Epilogue is great as a currently-reading and finished-reading list. So I happily resumed using it for that purpose.

Manton Reece

@MitchW Thanks! Not yet, but I’m thinking about having it show in blog posts too as an option.

Jarrod Blundy

@pratik To be clear, I’d continue using other apps for tracking my watch lists. I just like the idea of having a more full-featured way to review them on my blog. I might feel differently if I tried importing a Trakt or Letterboxd feed into my blog (does it pull in your review text too, or just link back to it on Letterboxd?). But in the spirit of owning my text on the web, I like the prospect of having those reviews live at my domain.

Mick F

@pratik I think the duplicate posts come from changing settings. Because I wanted the content of the feed to appear in my newsletter, I have switched from Add posts to Micro.blog timeline to Import posts from feed at letterboxd.com to: dirtyhenry.micro.blog so there should not be more duplicates.

Jarrod Blundy

@pratik @matt That’s actually what I’ve been doing! I love Quick Reviews. I should have made a shortcut for it while I had the chance, but I’m pretty sure he recently removed its URL scheme. I think it’d still have been pretty manual anyway to get the poster and set text size and everything. But wouldn’t it be cool to have movieshelves on our sites like we do bookshelves?

Jarrod Blundy

@pratik I just took a closer look through your movie archive and you’re right. That’s pretty nice!

Jarrod Blundy

@pratik Ah, yeah, that’d be a bummer.

Andrés Cárdenas

I was wondering if it is possible to run Epilogue on iOS 15? The app can be installed but it won’t start.

Manton Reece

@kandr3s I’ll check, thanks. It is supposed to work on iOS 15 but we must’ve missed something.
