With the success of Bluesky starter packs — which Micro.blog can browse natively! — every other social web platform is trying to invent their own similar format. But we already have blogrolls and OPML. I’d love to see some standardization around this so that there’s a shared format across platforms.

is there a post somewhere on how to Bluesky from micro.blog? As in what works and doesn’t etc…

Manton Reece

@Plebone Yes, check out this help page. It has an overview of all the Bluesky-related features.

Manton, I agree of course. :-)

Do we have any info about the starter packs from Bluesky?

Are they a JSON format?

Given that Bluesky supports outbound RSS, if we can parse their files, we can use them for our feed readers.

Also it would be cool if we could get my followers into OPML so I could subscribe to them in FeedLand.

How does browsing starter packs work?

Manton Reece

@jarrod Check out the link in this blog post. The main thing missing is how to discover starter packs, unless you follow a link from someone's post. I'd like to experiment with surfacing them in Discover.

Manton Reece

Here's some example JSON for a starter pack. There's of course a lot of Bluesky-specific fields in it. The important part is the list of users in "listItemsSample". There's a separate call to get the entire list. gist.github.com/manton/a75ce...

How can micro browse them? I want to know more.

IIUC (@bsky.app newbie here) starter packs are one-time .. in that you discover and add them to your follower list at a certain point in time, but future updates to that pack (adds and deletes) will NOT be reflected in your feed, correct? Or do we have #DynamicStarterPacks already?

Discovery was going to be my next question. ;-)
