I created a new demo site demo-photos.micro.blog to showcase some photo blog features in Micro.blog. It doesn’t use any custom code… Just the home page photos plug-in and Micro.blog collections. For photos, I imported my old Instagram archive.

It looks like all photos are square, are they originally that or is that a result of using the features?

@jemostrom All my photos were square. They could be any aspect ratio though.

@pratik Yeah, the home page uses masonry. I’d like to see some other layout options too in the future.

From the keyboard alone, that’s one very, VERY clean looking 2400c.

@manton I noticed on the resulting photo landing page (per photo), they are all html files. Did you create an HTML page for each of these photos? Or are they auto-generated somehow?
I’m trying to add metadata to each of my photos, as you added a quick title/description on yours.
Thanks!

@leefeagin Auto-generated, it's a blog so Micro.blog runs every page through Hugo templates to generate HTML for everything.

@manton Any way you can tell me how you’re doing that? Wondering where that title/description lives.

@leefeagin Each photo has a blog post with the text and photo reference. Micro.blog for Mac’s Instagram importer creates blog posts for each Instagram photo and sets the original caption and date. There’s a help page here with some details too.

I dig collections a lot. To my eye though, the content in ‘Collections’ looks a bit weird on mobile. If anyone who is better than CSS than I am figures out how to align that centrally, please ping me. Thanks.

and I apologise that I can often spot things like this, but not offer to assist in remedying them!
