“Did you ever re-subscribe to The Washington Post?”
“No. And I never will.”
My good opinion once lost is lost forever.

@manton What if Kara Swisher was able to get a group together and buy it away from Bezos?
@fahrni Good question. Yes, I'd go back then. It needs completely new leadership and I trust Kara.

I suppose like there are no good airline companies, neither are there any good newspapers. They all suck to some extent, some more than others.
@manton Even if, by some miracle, Bezos sells to the Kara Swisher-led effort to buy it from him and put journalists back in charge?
@renevanbelzen Maybe, but there should be more great newspapers. Airlines are about comfort and safety, which is no small thing, but the reach of the news influences so many things.
I tend to agree. Good news reporting is key to keep people sane and prevent extreme behavior.
Was never much of a WaPo fan, they have (and had) some decent opinion writers over the years, though. Shout out to all the new ish news startups trying to shake things up, I think of places such as The Dispatch, Semafor, Sherwood News, 404 Media, The Free Press. Hoping that they are able to approach the significance of a nationwide, print paper one day.
@scattershot Yeah, feels like 404 Media is really making a name for themselves now. Print for some of those would be cool!
I appreciate their emphasis on privacy, it's really quite rare. Nothing quite beats the vibe of a nice newspaper in the morning with a cup of coffee!
