@numericcitizen Thanks. I will probably find other ways to make Micro.blog stand out as a good option for people. I still think of Micro.blog as the standard account that most people should have, and Micro.one as a great place to get started (and good enough for some people on its own too).

using a custom domain feels like a premium feature that should be reserved for the main product.

I hope this is successful for you. You deserve it. I thought $5 was a great deal, the $1 price point is insane. People on social platforms need to be educated about the advantages of posting to their own blog and syndicating elsewhere. At this price, there is no excuse to not get started.

whilst the change does make sense, it was not called a ‘soft launch’ so changing features for people that have signed up is a little cheeky IMO. I think you should personally stop taking sign ups until you’ve decided on the features so people know what they’re signing up for. Again, I do agree and understand the cost is extremely low so some things should be lost, but it’s not a good user experience to lose them without notice after signing up.

Congrats (nearly) on this milestone. I appreciate how you are focusing on many aspects of "modern" blogging, including making it very affordable and simple with micro.one. Removing barriers from publishing on your own domain is good for the web, good for people, and good for society!

From a "I've read the titles of articles on marketing but only know enough to be dangerous" brain, I'm curious why you wouldn't embed the YouTube video on the page, rather than send someone off to YouTube to watch it?

if you have any suggestions how existing micro.blog customers (fans?) can support the successful launch of micro.one please share. I know I and many others would be happy to help spread the word…

Seems like a good choice in the long run. You can always add layer, but removing stuff is tricky. Good luck on the rest of the launch!

@jthingelstad I did see there was the option to gift a year of micro.one to friends or family. $10 a year, support micro.one/blog and get more of your friends on the platform. Wins all around!

@cooperbike Yeah — I've been thinking through my friends and family who might want a blog. I've already converted most of them that are open to it… but worth continued examining. 😀

@andynico Good feedback. I can re-enable the feature for anyone who signed up yesterday before the change. I wish I had everything figured out beforehand, but sometimes it's hard to tell until it's actually in users' hands.

@iChris I just ran out of HTML tinkering time. I agree it should be embedded (and preferably not use YouTube at all).

Yeah, fully understand that! I know you have your hands full with the new launch, and it’s easy to look back (or in as an outsider) with ‘shoulda’ / ‘coulda’.
