Got some great feedback on Micro.blog’s new blog post summary (or excerpts) feature. Today the first round of improvements rolled out based on that feedback, including setting a summary when starting a new post on the web. Still to come later this week: support in cross-posting.

are these coming to the iOS app, and also will the app get media paste support at some point? I’ve never been able paste any photo or video into the iOS.app from my clipboard or share sheet.

@starrwulfe Definitely coming to the iOS app. Good question about pasting, that isn’t a workflow I had considered. Will look into it.

started using it in my latest post and really liking the integration using AI, very similarly to the ALT Text on photos

Cool. Any chance we could get something like a “show all” option for the web interface? If i’m writing a summary, I’m likely using a title and categories too.

I would definitely like added photo-in-post capabilities in the iOS app. The current workflow of navigating to the uploads section first to upload, then copy code, then paste code into a post field feels unnatural.

I am very much looking forward to being able to use summaries when sharing to Mastodon and Bluesky. I expect to be a heavy user of that option.

I post a lot of copy pasta pictures from my other apps (Teams/Discord/Matrix) so being able to use the share sheet within iOS is standard practice for me. The web version of Micro.blog does this well so I’ve been using Safari to post more but it’s not as elegant as a built-in using the app.

@MitchW Thanks! I expect to add it for Mastodon, Bluesky, and Threads first, then other platforms.
