Adding another server in Europe today. 🇩🇪

Democratic Senators Team Up With MAGA To Hand Trump A Censorship Machine | Techdirt
As reported in The Information (paywalled), several Democratic Senators are teaming up with some of Trump’s strongest Senate allies to repeal Section 230 — the law that both enables content moderation and protects websites from being sued into oblivion for hosting user speech.
What impact could this have on Micro.blog? Would moving all servers to the EU help?

@thosch I’ll be watching this but I don’t think it will affect us. We’ll likely fly under the radar, and keep doing what we think is right. Diversifying to EU servers can’t hurt, though!

I hope you're right about your assessment. But after what we've seen in the last few weeks, I'm very skeptical.
The fact that the Dems could become enablers of this development leaves me puzzled.
I think your decision to use additional servers in the EU is a good one. Hetzner seems like a good partner to me, which I use myself for VPS and storage.
As I already wrote elsewhere, I would love it if, in the medium term, all the content of my account were located in the EU. I am aware that this would mean significant changes to the architecture of Micro.blog and thus also to the effort involved.

@thosch I hear you. It is a significant change to the architecture but I think Micro.blog is well positioned to make those changes.
