@manton why not show a preview of the image instead of the URL? Easier to write a description if you are looking at the subject.
@Eggfreckles You can only get to this pane after selecting the thumbnail of the image, so it should be clear. But that’s a good point, an extra preview here would be nice too.
@manton just a pet peeve I have with Mastodon clients that want me to describe an image I can't see.
@Eggfreckles Fair enough. Probably on iOS that needs more attention especially, where everything can be so modal.
@manton I've been considering doing some work related to this kind of user feature. Do you host a model yourself to help you generate the accessibility text or rely on some other framework/tool?
@zorn I use OpenAI’s API. For a little while I tried models on my own server, but the server cost with GPUs is high unless you’re processing a lot of data. Eventually I want to embed a model in the Mac app, when everyone has more RAM.
